DAILY BRIEFING/

A personal style. A measured footprint.

REA helps coding agents inspect apps. Agent-style makes its author's voice explicit. MorningAI adds Microsoft 365 and credit controls. Measure open model weights before downloading them in a free metadata-only lab.

01
Reverse engineering tools for coding agents

morluto/rea

18 Oct · v6.7.0Recent release · added 19 Oct correctionMIT; external analysis tools have separate terms

REA connects coding agents to local tools for inspecting binaries, JavaScript and Electron apps, .NET assemblies and browser behavior.

What’s new

The 18 October release includes reusable JavaScript fact queries, multi-locale APK inspection and native-analysis extensions from 6.6, which never reached npm. Version 6.7 also fixes edits to repeated JSON/JSONC client settings.

Why it matters

Trace one feature through code and source locations before reimplementing it. Results carry evidence and limitations; coverage depends on the target and configured analysis tools.

Try it

Documentation review only; not installed or run for this edition. Start with a small JavaScript app: static inspection needs Node.js 22.x >=22.19, 24.x >=24.11 or 26+, without a paid decompiler. Codex and other local MCP clients are supported; agent access and native analysis tools have separate requirements.

02
Explicit author style for writing agents

yzhao062/agent-style

19 Oct IST · v0.9.0Rule-pack update; 18 Oct UTC releaseMIT code; CC BY 4.0 rules/adapters

The technical-writing pack now distinguishes its maintainer's personal writing habits from general rules.

What’s new

Version 0.9.0 adds a House Style section that takes precedence over conflicting defaults, while retaining firm requirements against invented facts or citations. Published 18 October 23:46 UTC, or 19 October 05:16 IST.

Why it matters

A style pack carries an author's preferences. Inspect that layer before applying it to your own voice; the maintainer's small internal comparisons are not independent proof.

Try it

Read the release diff before activating adapters. Keep your factual constraints and evaluate the resulting writing in context.

Context, execution and the infrastructure around agents.

MorningAI / 19 Oct
Hosted-agent product update

Microsoft 365 context with visible usage limits

A business agent can read Outlook threads and files, prepare replies and work with a calendar through one Microsoft connection.

What’s new

MorningAI announced a Microsoft 365 connector and a Credits page with per-task usage and organization/member limits. It also added existing Gemini Argon and Haiku models to its menu, not new model launches.

Why it matters

Review the boundary between read/draft work and approved actions, and make budget limits visible before delegating a long workflow.

Hosted and credits-metered; Microsoft account access and possibly organization approval are required. Free availability was not established; no account was connected, purchase made or auto-reload enabled.

Try DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017: inspect the checkpoint footprint

Read two pinned JSON manifests and calculate tensor size and shard count before downloading model weights.

Why it helps Distinguish inspectable open weights from a checkpoint that fits your computer and deployment budget.

Open the step-by-step guide
  1. 01

Fetch only the official config and weight-index JSON at a pinned revision.

  2. 02

Calculate indexed bytes, shard count and configured context.

  3. 03

Write a go/no-go note separating tensor size from runtime memory needs.

Python 3, internet and about 10 MB for metadata. No API key, GPU, external package or inference.

Tested 19 October: bounded metadata download and Python audit returned 48 shards and 510.29 GB of indexed tensors. No weights, generation, benchmarks or hardware fit were tested.
